Palestinian-German Partnership Launches Train-the-Trainer Program for Medical Laboratory Quality in Amman

In a collaborative effort to enhance medical laboratory standards across Palestine, the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) – Germany’s National Metrology Institute under the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy – have launched a five-part Train-the-Trainer program in Amman. The initiative targets nine quality coordinators from Palestinian medical laboratories and aims to strengthen internal training capacity and promote sustainable quality practices aligned with ISO 15189 standards.

The first seminar, taking place in Amman from April 27 to May 1, 2025, marks the beginning of a year-long training series, with subsequent sessions planned for June, August, October, and November 2025.

The program builds on previous collaboration initiated in June 2024, when PTB and representatives from the Palestinian Accreditation Unit (PALAC) and the External Quality Assessment Provider CQML (Al-Quds University) visited Unilab in Amman. These meetings explored synergies in continuing education and accreditation practices for medical labs.

As part of the April seminar, a simulated nonconformity exercise is planned at Unilab on April 30, aimed at training participants in root cause analysis and corrective actions based on real-world laboratory quality scenarios.

This initiative reflects the joint commitment of Palestinian and German institutions to improving public health infrastructure and promoting international standards in laboratory services.
